A short set, comprised of one-offs written between April 5th and June 10th.
Something I don’t think I’ve said yet—if something resonates with you, you’re welcome to share it. At the very least, I hope you let me know which ones moved you, even if they jostled just a tiny thing inside of you.
milieu
cigarettes and rain
the fragrances mingling
a japanese scent
-
embark in the fog
emerge in the sunshine, vines
gently billowing
-
taking my bones out
for a stroll. my sinew strains
to keep me upright
-
i want to go home
but technically, physically
i’m already there
wakeful
i can’t sleep because
hips feel weird, mind is racing
and god knows what else
-
writing in the dark
means chicken scratch, wavy lines
commitment to strokes1
-
i’m always counting
syllables as if they’re sheep
can’t sleep either way
stated
we wouldn’t wish this
on each other, yet nice to
walk this together
-
it’s not just about
setting the expectations
it’s the follow through
-
been clucking my tongue
a new habit denoting
my resignation
-
is it possible
to come back from this? did i
go too far this time?
ghosts
when’s the transition
from someone that i know to
someone i used to?
-
are you even real?
hard convincing myself that
you were really here
unspoken
i’m waiting until
i see you next to share, but
what if it’s too late?
-
difference between us:
i left nothing unsaid, you
held everything back
-
your integrity
preserved, but now i wonder
which words you swallowed
-
i hope years from now
you can say what you wanted
but couldn’t back then
sentiments
i’m feeling okay
i’m not without the ache, but
it’s manageable
-
will my tenderness
come to subside over time?
tell me: how much time?
-
don’t you understand?
now is all we get. that’s it.
there is nothing else
-
your anger could fuel
a pyre, but don’t you see
it’s your funeral?
-
legacy? who cares
i plan to be forgotten
after i am gone
The outcome of my 2:30am haiku writing session from bed, without turning any lights on. I have 5 post-its from that particular sleepless night, which have now found a home on my computer monitor.
