Hi, I’m Marié

Photo by Colleen Phan-Eversman, my sweet friend and multi-hyphenate creative.

Pronounced with Japanese vowel sounds, like mar-ee-ayy. You can even use the Japanese R, if you’re feeling fancy. I’m winging life in San Francisco.

By day, I work in the animation industry, supporting story artists and editors to do their best work. By night, I have an ever-growing list of hobbies, but currently at top are songwriting, rug tufting, and writing haiku. Honorable mentions include collecting rocks (which often inspire my rugs) and reading (generally nonfiction or humans-deal-with-human-problems fiction).

I’m also purposely letting myself be a beginner at many things right now, generally centered around music (piano, guitar, flute, kalimba, and harmonica), and movement (surfing and skateboarding).

Currently my posts are either haiku compilations or reflections on life (whether in gratitude or anguish), but here’s some of what I may eventually dip into: what it takes to live a rich and meaningful life, personality psychology, mental and physical health, healing from trauma, media that moves me, and why the Gregorian calendar is silly.
