Something different today, and keeping the preamble brief! Yesterday I wrapped up a two-part storytelling workshop led by Corey Rosen from The Moth.
Class One: how to mine your life and memories for inspiration; story structure
Homework: bring a 5-ish minute, true short story based on one of the following prompts: Hot Mess, Blue, or High
Class Two: share our stories; give and receive feedback
In performing our stories, we were not permitted to refer to notes of any kind. Here’s mine, as I told it in class. It came out differently than I had prepared it, and that’s quite alright with me.
Special thank you’s to Corey, for a magnificent crash course, and to my songwriting teacher Rachel Garlin, who has made it feel safe for me to be emotionally vulnerable while navigating this new, very challenging art form.
